When I was a child, the art of folding paper into various specific shapes and patterns was my favorite “game”. I often wonder, what would happen if I used paper to make clothes? So this series of clothing design is inspired by folding paper.
I started by folding a lot of shapes out of paper, trying to see the possibility of wearing them on my body, and ended up designing a set of tops, skirts and pants.
After the design was completed, I drew an ideal picture based on the designed content.
When choosing the fabric, I originally wanted to use silk taffeta, but because the silk was not stiff enough, I changed the plan when I actually made the sample. I started looking for fabrics that could mimic the stiffness of paper, and eventually found a stiffer bleached fabric.
After using bleached fabric to make a sample of the top, I felt that the fabric was too plain and lack of new ideas, so I found a stiff linen fabric, made a new sample, and modified the color of top in my ideal picture.
